Missing PAT table in Topfield *.rec files

#1

Beitrag von Bobben »

Hope its ok to write in English here.

The Topfield *.rec files record PMT and the components signalled in the PMT. The PAT table is not stored in the *.rec file. This means that the *rec files wont play in VLC and mediaplayers like Popcorn Hour.

I can make my own sofware for adding a PAT based on the Topfield header or by scanning for PMT table_id (or video/audio PES streamtypes) but it is not convenient to convert every *.rec file when a recorded PAT (or Topfield generated PAT) would have solved that problem. Perhaps there are some software available for converting *.rec files ?

It would be best if conversion can be avoided and I hope TopField can add PAT in future software versions. I think PAT table has been stored in other TopField PVR receivers.

I have compared the Humax iCord HDPVR with the Topfield 7700 HDPVR and Humax stores PAT/SDT/PMT in the TS recordings on the HDD. The recorings will then playback easily in all mediaplayers supporting TS format and the video/audio compression. The Humax iCord also decodes DVB subtitle correctly while the Topfield 7700 HDPVR does not ( https://forum.tms-taps.net/viewtopic.php?t=26618 ).
